Sweet Amelia's Toffee...
...where a simple recipe from the 1970's evolved into a sweet obsession!
Our story began with a classic English toffee recipe, passed along by a friend many years ago. While the original version was delicious, it had a hard consistency that didn't quite satisfy. In 1998, a burst of inspiration struck, and our founder decided to tweak the recipe. After a pinch here, and a dash there, she transformed the toffee into something magical - lighter, softer, but still perfectly rich and crunchy!
But she didn't stop there....
She experimented with whole almonds and a sprinkle of chopped nuts on top, creating a blend of flavors and textures that took the toffee to the next level. The response was so great that she started offering it during the holidays at her family-owned restaurant, Jake's, in Waco, TX.
The turning point...
...came when a dear friend and business owner asked if she could create gift boxes for her corporate clients. That's how our famous one-pound sampler was born. When she needed an even more decadent gift, the 2.5-pound sampler quickly followed.
an even bigger dream...
When the founder decided she was ready for a well-deserved retirement, a huge fan and customer (that's US!) decided to purchase the recipe and business in 2023. So, we drove to Waco to learn from the original toffee queen herself. We practiced cooking toffee (this picture is from our actual training days with her), folding boxes, and hand-tying ribbons. Sweet Amelia's Toffee moved to Austin, TX with it's new owners and a big dream.
We are determined to continue bringing you the same incredible toffee we fell in love with, for many years to come!
